I am in the process of revamping my blog. It should be up in the next few weeks. Stay posted…
During breaks I’ve fiddling with plastiline, an oil-based, non-drying sculpture material. This small sculpture of my puppy was done from memory. Can you tell I miss her while in the studio?
A recent full figure sculpture from the sculpture marathon at the New York Studio School. I was working with very wet clay. More views below…
My first post for Dwell Magazine just went up today: “Touring Design for a Living World” about the new exhibition at the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. The exhibition includes the stunning photographs of Ami Vitali, which are beautifully printed on aluminum. Check out the full post by clicking here.
I am taking a 2-week long Sculpture Marathon at the New York Studio School. Shown are some of my clay sculptures from this past week.
Shown are some recent oil paintings I did in DC this past May. Above are paintings done from a model. Below is a quick painting of my puppy.

The Wall Street Journal ran an interesting article polling artists, collectors, and curators on what art should hang in the current White House. Author Toni Morrison recommends the work of Faith Ringgold, known for her murals of African-American life painted onto quilts. Philip Brookman, the chief Curator of the Corcoran Gallery of Art, suggests work by DC artists Sam Gilliam and William Christenberry. Shown here is a piece by William Christenberry. What artwork would you want to see in the White House?

I painted beside Cyndie Widmer almost every Saturday for over 4 years at the Washington Studio School. She is a wonderful painter and person you can visit her art studio this weekend as part of the Brookville Studio Tour this Saturday and Sunday, June 6 and 7th from 12 to 5pm. I wrote about Cyndie’s artwork over at Apartment Therapy. Visit Cyndie Widmer’s website by clicking here. Shown is a photo of Cyndie’s studio with her adroable dog posing.
Some recent art-related posts I wrote over at Apartment Therapy DC:
- Inspiration: Arranging Objects Like Morandi Still Lifes including my own attempts, which I titled “If Morandi had a dog” and “DesignHead Morandi”
- At the Vancouver Art Gallery: Ought Apartment Shows Six Decades in One Building
